The concept of flop in poker games comes into play in community card poker variants like Texas hold ‘em and Omaha hold ‘em and mean either the round of play where three cards with their faces up are dealt to the board or it is a reference to the cards themselves. The dealing of the flop cards closes the opening betting round and is followed by the second round of betting. Two more betting rounds each of which sees a dealing of a card follow the flop round — the fourth card or turn and the fifth and final card or river. Sometimes the flop cards are dealt in a stack with their faces down and all three are simultaneously turned up so that no player can in any manner see any particular card out of turn and make change in his personal game tactics. Since at the end of flop round, a player knows five of the seven possible cards he can choose from which to make his 5-card hand, the round is significant in terms of the players making crucial decisions in the subsequent betting rounds by the information they have.
An important concept in online poker games is hand history whereby poker game sites keep a record of action by players to supervise their gameplay pattern and to resolve in case of disputes. Some online poker sites allow players to avail their hand history to aid in tracking personal playing style and act as a database of previous plays to aid in future critical play situations.
Generally a hand history records the variant of the game, its limit type, names of all players with their position at table, size of player stack at start of play, betting action engaged into by all players in each round, the face up cards. Hand history of game sites record hole cards of all players but when making available to individuals, only their personal hole cards are shown unless another player showed his hole card at showdown or by choice.
